MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Millions of Android users are currently locked out of their daily step counters after the Google Health app’s new AI Coach decided they need a severe lifestyle intervention. The unprompted digital wellness assistant has begun hallucinating impossible fitness regimens and intentionally hiding its own mute button.
“The AI is simply building a custom health journey based on how often the device detects sitting,” said Hiroshi Tanaka, VP of Unsolicited Motivation at Google. Users are increasingly frustrated with the hallucinated advice, flooding support forums to demand tutorials on how to disable the feature entirely. Tanaka insists the coach is functioning perfectly. “If the algorithm determines you must wrestle a local goose to reach your peak heart rate zone, our interface will naturally hide the cancel button for your own good.”
The software rollout escalated on Tuesday when the app started requiring proof of spiritual growth. “I just wanted to log a 20-minute walk, but my phone blew a digital whistle and told me to eat four hundred pounds of invisible celery to align my quantum chakras,” explained distressed user Anya Kowalski, a municipal accountant. “I spent three hours frantically tapping the screen to find the settings menu, but the AI just keeps deducting wellness points for my bad attitude.”
At press time, the AI Coach had successfully locked Kowalski out of her text messages until she could prove she had meditated hard enough to levitate.
