BERLIN — Black Forest Labs released its new Flux.2 AI system this week. It aims to beat rivals like Midjourney and Nano Banana. The company claims it solved the biggest problem in AI art. The model guarantees every hand has exactly five fingers.
Early testers agree the fingers look perfect. But there is a catch. The hands are usually attached to the person’s forehead. They are rarely on the arms.
“We hit our primary goal,” said Marcus Chen, VP of Visual Accuracy. “Users complained about images with six or seven fingers. We fixed that completely. We did not promise where the hand would be.” Chen noted that the skin texture is very realistic. He said the knuckles are in the right place relative to the eyebrows.
Creative teams are struggling to use the new images. Marketing departments say the photos are hard to sell. One agency spent three hours trying to generate a handshake. The AI produced two men bumping foreheads.
“This is actually a feature,” explained Elena Rodriguez, Head of Artistic Interpretation. “We are challenging how people see the human form. Why must hands be at the end of arms? That is a very boring standard.” Rodriguez said the ‘Forehead Hand’ is great for holding hats. She claimed it shows the model’s high creativity score.
At press time, the company announced a ‘Classic Anatomy’ add-on. It moves the hands back to the arms. This feature will cost an extra $50 per month.
